Cleaning Your teddies is very important not just for safety of Your children but for preservation of teddy bear itself. For one stuffed toy bears can carry all types of unhealthy germs if You aren’t careful and bacteria. In order to keep off the smells from for example tobacco smoke You must remember to vacuum Your teddy bears every other month. This way You will also clean any dust that might be gathering on them as well. You never know what’s gotten inside Your stuffed toy bear.

Keep in mind that not all stuffed toy bears are machine washable, check the label before ever tossing him into the washing machine. If they are not machine washable take a gentle fabric, lightly wet it and surface wash the stuffed teddy. Not everything comes off the first time, once You’ve given the teddy a good cleaning take a second fabric and lightly wash him again. Set him in a safe place to dry over night.

Kill any bugs that may be lingering on or inside Your teddies by placing them in a plastic bag and putting them in the freezer. While this may sound harsh to poor teddy, it’ll kill anything that might be living on/in him. Dust mites are something You don’t want Your kid getting attacked by, at least this way You’ll no they aren’t jumping on Your child.

Mold can be another big issue with teddies, especially if You or Your child ever got him wet. Not to worry though, unstitch his side and pull out the stuffing. Gently wash the inside of the teddy like You would the outside and let it dry. Once dry replacing the old padding with new and sew him back together. Teddies loved to be cleaned at least once a year. With the proper care and love Your stuffed bears can be passed down from one generation to the next.

It doesn’t take much to get this hobby going and to start your very own stuffed toy bear collection. In fact, if You are anything like me, you probably have a small collection going on right now. Take a look around your room for a moment. Do You notice anything? If I am right, you’ve been collecting teddies over the years without even realizing it.

As a kid many adults tend to buy teddies as gifts, even as you become a teenager you probably had someone give you one or two. Boyfriends tend to purchase stuffed toy bears to show how much they care and because they know their girlfriend will think they are cute. Once you’ve become an adult you already have a collection of teddybears waiting for you to pick up and continue on.

Youth may want to collect teddy bears just because they like they way they look and can play with them. Some will want stuffed toy bears to protect them late at night when all the scary stuff comes out in the dark, while others will simply place them on a shelf to check out. Teddybears can help a youngster confide in someone if she/he is depressed, remember teddies will never tell.

You can find many teddy bears inside stores of all types from Wal-Mart to your local craft stores. Keep in mind if you are looking at homemade stuffed toy bears they will be more expensive.

By going to many different department stores to your local talent shops you can find all kinds of nice teddy bears to collect. As for anything else, the prices will range from as low as a dollar to a few hundred dollars. You can also find few teddy bears online at places like eBay, Amazon or by simply doing a search for whatever type of stuffed bear toy you are wanting.

Museums always have gift shops inside with all the latest merchandise from the area, which includes stuffed toy bears. You’ll probably be able to find one that’s just for that museum and possibly a limited edition. But be careful though because sometimes a museum can be pretty steep in their prices for something that you can buy cheaper outside the museum if You know where to look for.

If you are really serious about collecting teddy bear toys, buy a few teddy books so you never get charged over the price. You can save a lot of money by doing this. Do your homework first before purchasing a collectors stuffed bear toy.

What a breathtaking parade it would make if we could line up all of the stuffed toy bears in existence. Starting at the front of the line, I honestly don’t think You would be able to walk to the end in one day. There are so many teddy bear toys out there they could have a species of their own, (if teddies were alive, that is J). It is hard to believe that teddies have been a best friend, confidant, protector, and constant companion to kids from age of 1 day till death. How hard is it for many of us to take a look at a cute, soft teddy bear and resist the instant urge to take that teddy home with us. The teddy bears started of as a simple, jointed teddy plush with excelsior, to the brilliant, unique teddies we see today.

Stuffed toy bear Artists have admitted they have spent hours working on the face of each stuffed bear toy they make. While teddy bear toys may be made of the same pattern and materials, the face of each teddy has a personality of it’s own. Each artist has his or her own style when it comes to making stuffed bear toys. Many times you can see the personality traits of the artist in the bears they make.

Stuffed toy manufacturers have their own style when it comes to the teddy bears they make. For instance, GUND, the top stuffed toy company in the U.S., has a patented under-stuffing method that creates many of their teddy’s, the softest on the market. You will find many diverse and interesting styles when you visit the factories or internet websites of the main teddy bear manufacturers.

Stuffed bear toy collectors love to show off their magnificent teddies. You will find many sites on the web on the internet, belonging to collectors of teddy bear toys. One teddy bear collector family I already wrote about, have such a large collection, they have stuffed toy bears in every room. Some of the rooms in their home are dedicated to teddies only.

Teddybears have been proven to be a astonishing way to lessen the fear and pain of sick, aggrieved, lonely, and frightened children. Hospitals give teddy bears to those in need. Youngsters make up the biggest group of teddy bear recipients, but adults at many hospitals are given teddies to grasp while recovering from open heart surgery. It is important for a person who has undergone open heart surgery to cough so their lungs remain clear. The teddy is held close to the patients chest to lessen the pain and prevent the wound from reopening with the action.

The Vermont Teddy bear Factory has a program called “BIG HERO” & “LITTLE HERO”. Money is raised through a hand made campaign and private donations. Every time a specially made stuffed teddy bear for this program is purchased, VTBF will give 2 of the same type of stuffed bear toy to police, emergency service workers, and firemen for distribution to youngsters who are sick, injured, or victims of domestic violence. The special stuffed toy bears are also given to lonely seniors.

One thing we know for sure, the teddy is a very popular toy. If you doubt it, look at the number of stuffed bears sold each year. Stuffed toy bears have survived the test of time. Other toys have come and gone but the stuffed toy bear lives on in the hearts of those of us who need a bit of reassurance or a soft, warm, grasp.

Log into a computer game and a stuffed teddy may just start teaching you math, science or history. Little ones love these little stuffed bear toys and will sit for hours doing as they say, well if mom and dad let them.

Teddy bears are entering a whole new world with the internet. Now there are even the small communities just for them. Your kid can join these communities and interact with others using the virtual teddies. Even a toddler can even play games online now with virtual teddies waiting to help her. Over at Disney.com there is Winnie the Pooh, Teddy from Bear’s in the Big Blue House to help her navigate through the web site.

Instead of sending an email, you can now send someone you love a virtual stuffed toy bear. This is an e-card that has a little poem or message on it and plays a tune as you read it. As you scroll down you’ll see your own virtual stuffed toy bear that was sent to you. These bears look just like the real thing, only they are inside your screen and you can’t cuddle with them. Virtual teddy bears are great for those little nephew/nieces/grandkids that you need to send a birthday greeting to. These teddy bears can also be made into little postcards to send loved ones over the internet, just to show you are thinking of them. The best thing about these virtual teddybears is that they are free. Now you have no excuses, send your loved one a virtual teddy bear and give them that great “beary” hold you’ve been meaning to do.

In case your stuffed bear toy is looking a little squished because he got flattened from being inside the toy box shake him out. By doing that teddy tends to fluff his fur back out and relocate the beads or fluff inside him. To get the dust out of Your teddy bear You may want to pat him out a few times.

Believe it or not some teddies enjoy You to pull on them. From time to time You will notice that Your stuffed teddy has a deformed face because your little brother is always dragging him around. If this happens don’t worry just stretch out his face. Teddies are meant to be handled rough, they want to play too. Continue to stretch teddy’s face till You are satisfied with the expression of Your bear’s face.

A stuffed bear toy loves his coating brushed; to them it is just like someone scratching their backs. But be extra careful not to pull out his coat. That hurts your teddy as much as it would hurt You. Some stuffed bears are unable to have their coat brushed, instead try blow drying them out. After You may want to fluff them with a fork.

Over the course of time teddy bear toys can lose that shiny look in their eyes. Sometimes it can get all scratched up while on other times it may just get dirt on them. Simply take a tablecloth and wipe it over his eyes. You may even want to use a tiny bit of water to get any dirt or marker that is being iron handed. If the eyes are all scratched out the best solution is to buy the new ones. Same as with eye glasses, You can clean them when they are dirty but when they are scratched You go and get the new ones.

When grooming your stuffed toy bears take this opportunity to dust them, use a vacuum to quickly go over his coat. If your teddy bears still look a little dirty simply wash them down with a wet rag. You should never put teddies in water. The only time you put them in water is if it says washable teddy bear on the teddy’s box or his label. Now that your teddy bears are all pretty and groomed, you can take them out for a cookout. Remember to bring the honey anyhow.

The very next day cartoonist, Clifford Berryman, drew a cartoon depicting Roosevelt refusing to shoot the bear. Adolph Gund founded the company in 1898. It was based in Norwalk, Connecticut. Gund was one of the first companies to construct and produce teddy bear toys in the early 1900’s. In 1907, a rather young Russian immigrant named Jacob Swedlin took a modest job at Gund Company. When Adolph Gunde retired 18 years later, Swedlin bought the business from him. The main demand Adolph Gund had when he was selling his business was that Swedlin is never to shange GUND name of the company. Swedling agreed to this and began his role in Gund teddy bear history. Most notable thing to mention is that he introduced the concept of industry licensing with cartoon characters like “Felix the Cat”, “Mickey Mouse”, “Donald Duck”, “Popeye”, and many others.

In 1969 after good 62 years in teddy business Jacob passed the company on to his daughter Rita Raiffe and her husband Herbert. The Raiffes wowed to and continued producing high quality, plush teddy bear toys. It was under their direction that the company began using its under-stuffing technique which is the heart of today’s world’s most huggable plush toy. In 1977, Bruce, the son of Herbert and Rita Raiffe, joined Gund Company. Bruce became President in 1993 and Chairman and Chief CEO in 2004. The first non-founding GUND member by the name of Jim Madison became President in 2004.

As the leading manufacturer Gund comp. has taken on many duties on themselves. So for example they have been responsible for the beginning of many innovations, raising safety standards and production processes in the toy industry. They were also the first to manufacture a musical toy that was reasonably priced. Gund has always been dedicated to product safety and set an important industry standard by devising a way to attach eyes securely to stuffed animals. It was important to prevent them from being pulled out and swallowed by small youngsters.

You remember the glorious “GOTTA GETTA GUND” advertising campaign in the earl 80’s. You can safely say that this campaign made the Gund recognized as a leading consumer brand. Nowadays, the company produces an extensive collection of hand made characters and licensed soft toys under the “Gund” and “Baby Gund” brands.

25 YEARS OF SNUFFLES

One of the most successful Gund teddy bears is definitely Snuffles. Two years ago Gund produced their 25th Anniversary snuffles. Snuffles has always been a part of the Gund collection of stuffed toys. They came in different sizes and colors. The 25th Anniversary edition however was created in a soft, pale blush, fabric with a white semi-circular moon on his chest. A faux leather tag with the words “Celebrate Love With Snuffles” declared that he is a 25th Anniversary edition and thus a special gift to give or to receive. In addition to Snuffles 25 Anniversary version, this cuddly stuffed teddy is also available in a traditional color of white with a brown embroidered nose and warm deep brown button eyes in four angelic sizes: 6 ½ inch, 8 inch, 10 inch and 13 ½ inch.

Today Gund can be seen on teddy bears everywhere. Gund is the most popular name when it comes to soft, stuffed toy bears. They have some very exclusive and interesting teddies you will find anywhere. Although you are unable to order teddies directly from the factory, their website will direct you to the nearest store, or web site, offering GUND teddy bears for sale.
